Information and support
The Mulberry Centre is a cancer information and support centre with a welcoming and non-clinical environment based within the grounds of West Middlesex Hospital in Isleworth. We are a registered charity and the majority of our funding comes from charitable donations.
Our aim is to deliver a range of information and support services free of charge to anyone affected by cancer, including those with a diagnosis, their main carer, family members and those bereaved. Although most our clients come from the London Boroughs of Hounslow, Richmond and Ealing, owing to our extensive telephone and online support, we are open to all people affected by a diagnosis of cancer, regardless of postcode or hospital of diagnosis.
We are committed to providing individual, tailor-made support to all our clients, enabling people to seek emotional and practical support in the way that works best for them. We continually review our workshops and services to make sure they fit the needs of our users.
We also understand that people with cancer, and those who care for them, often have a busy schedule of hospital appointments and treatment regimes. We ensure flexibility in the provision of all our appointments and you can now access our services online.
Psychological Support
Individual counselling sessions and support groups can help cope with the emotional distress and anxiety of a bereavement or a new diagnosis.
Complementary Therapies
Therapies can help cope with the stresses of cancer and its treatments. They can improve your mood when you are not feeling your best and bring about a feeling of wellbeing.
Informative Workshops
Practical talks and presentations on managing stress, legal support, sleep management, welfare & benefits, guided meditation and more.
Social and Creative Activities
Our weekly activities are a great way to meet and share with others and also may help reduce stress and anxiety. Sharing a creative activity is also a great way to help build friendships.
Wellbeing Classes
A range of weekly movement therapies are available to help you increase gentle activity. Regular participation can bring many benefits including instill calmness, relaxation and help clear a busy mind.
Other Support & Information
A well-stocked library and bookable one-to-one welfare & benefits support sessions are available to existing and new clients affected by cancer or the cost of living crisis.
Community Engagement
Our work in the community informs people about the support offered by The Mulberry Centre. It also raises awareness about the signs and symptoms of different types of cancer.
Who we help
Patients
Living with cancer affects people in many ways. We are here to support you from diagnosis, throughout your treatment and recovery, with an individual, tailor-made package to enhance your wellbeing.
You can access our support services at any stage of your cancer journey.
Carers, Friends & Family
The Centre supports wives, husbands, partners, parents, sons, daughters, friends and carers. You might think of yourself as just looking after someone close to you but if you are the main supporter of the patient, then you are treated as a carer.
Bereaved
We continue to support carers, family, and friends when they are bereaved. We usually rely on friends and family, but they can also be grieving, so it can help greatly to have independent support from The Mulberry Centre.
End of Life Care/Bereavement Counselling for Non-Cancer
