Project Description

This two-day course has been designed as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for massage therapists to equip you with the knowledge and factual evidence required to dispel myths about treating clients with a cancer diagnosis.  It will enable learners to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of cautions when delivering a massage treatment to a cancer patient.  You will learn specific massage adjustments in response to the side effects of cancer and its medical treatments.
About the Tutor  
Angie Forero is a BTEC L6 clinical and sports massage therapist.  She is also a reflexologist and aromatherapist registered with CNHC.  Angie has run her private practice for over 15 years, and has worked with the complementary therapy team at University College London Hospitals for 5 years, delivering massage and reflexology sessions to Heamatology and Oncology patients on the wards and outpatient clinics.  She also volunteered at The Mulberry Centre for 9 years and delivered complementary therapy treatments to palliative care patients at West Middlesex University Hospital.
Additional Information
You will need to bring along a couch cover, linens and a pillow to the practical sessions, all other equipment necessary for practical work will be provided, please ensure you wear suitable clothing to both give and receive treatments.  Whilst tea and coffee will be provided you will need to bring along your own lunch, or there is a Costa, Subway or canteen within a short distance.
Course Times
The course will start at 10.00am and finish at 5.00pm.  You will receive an email with joining instructions one week before the course date.
CPD Points
On successful completion of this course and case studies, you will receive a printed CPD certificate worth 12 points. This is available as an electronic PDF to store on your CPD pages online.

Class format:  This course will be delivered face to face in a classroom setting.

Entry Requirements

You will need to hold a recognised Level 3 diploma in massage, insurance to practice and professional association membership.  You also need to have completed the Online Oncology Module before attending the practical sessions.
