Project Description

Community Engagement

Our work in the community shares information on how The Mulberry Centre can support individuals when faced with the challenges a cancer diagnosis can bring. We also aim to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer, the importance of screening, and the preventative measures people can take to reduce their risk. We do this through workshops, information stalls and various forms of media.

The interactive and informative workshops we deliver are engaging and have had positive feedback from everyone who has taken part. In addition to this, we host pop-up stalls/information stands where individuals can interact with our demonstration props, talk to members of our team, and access information. We also offer a variety of complementary therapy taster sessions to members of the community so they can experience the benefit of some of the support services we provide our clients. We are always looking for different groups, venues, and events where we can have a presence and reach as many different members of the community as possible.

From borough wide health days to community events, from social care providers to faith groups, libraries, and schools, we tailor our work in the community to suit each group. We can offer sessions in some community languages and adapt workshops to suit various learning needs. As the statistic now states that 1 in 2 of us that will get cancer in our lifetimes, the need to share this information has never been more important. If you know of any groups or venues would benefit from one of our community engagement activities, please contact The Mulberry Centre on 020 8321 6300 or talk@themulberrycentre.co.uk

We provide information workshops on:

  • How to reduce your risk of cancer.

  • The importance of attending screening.

  • How to identify signs and symptoms.

  • The support and services available to people affected by cancer.

Some of our community engagement activities include:

● Running information desks at various venues (e.g. GP surgeries and libraries) and events (e.g. borough health awareness days)

● Giving presentations to groups of people in the local community (e.g. rotary, faith groups, schools)

● Giving presentations to service and support providers (e.g. health care providers, social care providers and charities) to allow them to signpost clients to The Mulberry Centre for support.

If you know of any groups or venues who might benefit from one of our community engagement activities, please contact The Mulberry Centre on 020 8321 6300 or email: talk@themulberrycentre.co.uk

User Engagement

The User Engagement Group was set up to start a conversation with the people who use our service. The aim of these sessions is to look closely at the support services we offer and find out what currently works, what changes need to be made, and what new services our users think would be beneficial to them and the community.  The Mulberry Centre is always looking to improve and develop the support we provide, and we want our users to be a part of defining what this looks like.  With the aim of talking to a wide range of different users, we hold several User Engagement Groups throughout the year with varying themes. We want to learn about your experiences and your suggestions for the best way we can support you.  As well as having focused discussions, these are social events so members of our community can enjoy getting to know each other.

To take part in one of our User Engagement Groups look out for the next event on the timetable or get in touch on 020 8321 6300 or email: talk@themulberrycentre.co.uk
