Strength and Balance Class

“Strength training helps you maintain and build strong muscles which can help improve your balance, reduce fatigue, and make it easier to do daily activities. It can also help fight osteoporosis, a weakening of the bones that some cancer treatments can cause” (Cancer.Net).  

2 classes weekly on Wednesday at 10:00am and 11:30am  What class should you attend?

  • 10:00am – Intermediate class:  Suitable for clients who can get down to the floor to do exercises and get up again.
  • 11.30am – Beginners class:  Suitable for clients who find it difficult and/or need assistance getting down to the floor and up again. Exercises can be done seating down and/or with chair support.

For safety, these classes have limited places, clients must book a place in advance to avoid disappointment.

Gaining strength and balance can help you become more physically active and being active before, during and after cancer treatment is safe.  Regular physical activity may have many benefits including:
  • reduce tiredness / fatigue
  • help look after your heart
  • reduce anxiety and depression
  • strengthen your muscles, improve bone health and balance
  • improve your flexibility and ability to stretch
  • increase your confidence.
