End of Life Support Group
End of Life – Patient Support Group
As a patient at the end of life, there may be nobody else to talk to freely about what you are going through. Joining others who share this particular experience helps you make sense of what is happening.
End of Life Support Group meets fortnightly on Zoom. Being part of this meet-up offers those in the group a supportive and confidential space where you can have a patient-led discussion on topics of your choosing.
Participating in this group helps you to explore your feelings and emotions around your diagnosis and prognosis. It helps you to take control of something at a time when many decisions may be out of your hands. Through these discussions, the group offers those in a similar situation, a shared sense of community, as well as providing choices to take what you want from other people’s experiences.
The unique situation of the dying patient offers the group the opportunity to help each person understand the grief process they are going through, and discuss individual needs along with the fear, anger, regret and other conflicting emotions that you may be feeling.
