Celebrating 21 years.

This year is the 21st birthday of The Mulberry Centre. Over 21 years ago, West London needed a cancer support service for anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer to visit for information, advice, and support. West Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust launched the Pulse Appeal in 1999 to raise funds for The Mulberry Centre. Building work started in 2000, and in 2001, the doors opened for the first time.  In 2005, The Mulberry Centre become an independent registered charity. Ties with the West Middlesex University Hospital continue to be strong. We work closely with the Cancer Nurse Specialists at the Hospital, as well as with other local hospitals, GPs, community groups and healthcare providers to ensure those requiring support, especially in hard-to-reach groups, access our services.

Today, we are the only organisation locally providing information and support services for anyone affected by cancer (patients, carers, and bereaved).  Since 2001, we have provided services and support to more than 15,000 people. We hold the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark Award for excellent facilities. In 2021, our volunteers received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK. Most recently, we won the Hounslow Business Award for Best Charity in 2020/21.

Our charity would not still be here today, nor would we have been able to help so many people cope with the impact of cancer in their lives, without the amazing support of our volunteers, donors, funders, partners, and other supporters over the last 21 years; we are thankful to you all!

We will be hosting events throughout the year to celebrate our 21st birthday. Please see the details below and come along to celebrate with us.

To deliver our critical services, we need to raise around £500,000 in charitable donations and grants each year. We need your support to continue to help people cope with the impact of cancer in their lives and improve their well-being now and in the future.
